Kingston Elementary School PTA

A Note From Our President

A Note From Our President

June 2017

June, it's here. Most of us probably cannot wait to get summer vacation started, and I know that I am just ready to stop making lunch every morning. And the kids are so ready to wake up late and just go swimming! As I reflect on the school year though, I cannot help but think that it was a great year! With so much going on around the world, it has been wonderful to know that all is good in our little corner. This community and all those who call themselves currently or have called themselves Kingston Cougars are great examples of how we would like everyone to be. Parents, staff and even current and former students pitch in to help each other out at all times. What a wonderful community to be in.

We've had a busy year with all the activities and events that happened this year. I hope that you and your family were able to join us at PTA and school events. We started off the year with an amazing All American Run and Carnival followed by a downpour and finished off with Spring Fling and a downpour! I call that a successful year. And as I reflect on my two years of being PTA President, I have to say that the volunteers and heart of Kingston is what made an impression on me. Whenever help was needed we always had parents and staff jump right in to help out. I am so lucky that my family will still get to enjoy that next year as our little one starts first grade. I want to again say "Thank you" to all those who have helped Kingston this last year and in the past. We've been lucky to have honored so many volunteer of the months for their exceptional work each month but that does not mean that others were not putting in just as much effort. Even if you could only contribute an hour here and there it is an hour that made a difference in a child's life.
I was not able to list our volunteers of the month for April and would like to thank them here. We were lucky to have Mrs. Sheli Auten who volunteered in so many classrooms and for Reading Night. She was the inspiration behind the City scape selfie station. She also helps our reading specialist and in her son's classroom. Our other two volunteers of the month for April are Mrs. Mary Carole Lynch who has helped out in the library and many other places at Kingston since her oldest grandchild attended who is now a VB Schools graduate. We are so thankful that she continues to come and help out in the library. Lastly, we want to thank Wendy Briggs. She is the Library volunteer coordinator and I am sure that Mrs. Cowen and Ms. Nye would not be able to run the library without her. All three of these volunteers are what makes Kingston great.

I hope that you all had a wonderful year with your families. As you plan out your summer and school year don't forget that the new Board will have many great activities and events planned out for you. I know that they've already started on many of them. Don't forget to send in your All American t-shirt designs and start getting in shape for the run. Be on the lookout for information from the PTA about welcome back events and ways to get involved. Every volunteer hour makes a huge difference in a child's life. I look forward to attending many of these events with you and getting to help out more in the classroom and around the school. Have a wonderful summer and see you in the fall.

Respectfully,
Anna Feliberti
